Extreme Changes

happiness Dec 17, 2024

It would seem a stupid idea for me, that as a night owl and an introvert, to start a career as a Personal Trainer, a job job best suited for morning people and extroverts. However, this is the extreme change I felt needed in order to improve my own health. And it worked, beyond what I expected.

My self-awareness has become my biggest asset in progressing my life. I gained the ability to recognize that I’m not disciplined enough to just take action unless I create parameters that will force me to take action. I felt the only way I was going to care about fitness was if I made it my job. It took me until I was 30 to realize this, but that change would set me down my most successful path in life ever. Now, I know of nothing more valuable than my own fitness. It is not for vanity, well originally it was, but fitness became what gives me the mental and physical energy to excel at everything else in my life.

As a night owl and introvert, being a Personal Trainer helped me develop my weakest abilities. It did not convert me into a morning person or an extrovert, but it certainly bridged the gap.

Fitness is not the only area this strategy worked, but it is the most significant. Taking light to extreme measures in most aspects of my personal and professional life is what became necessary for me to design the life I want.

You may be stuck. You may not even know it. Extreme changes can be scary, and that fear is what holds most people back from ever getting unstuck. What scares me more than making a big change is what happens if I don’t make that change. Switching professions to become a Personal Trainer was one of the most difficult periods of my life. I almost didn’t make it. If I ever doubt the decision I made, I imagine my life if I didn’t make that decision and the experiences and skills I would have to return.

If you want to explore the idea of making a big change and what you can do to succeed, please reach out to me.

I’ve made many big changes in my life, like switching careers dozens of times, giving up bigger paychecks, moving to six different states, joining the military late in life, going back to college, and so much more. I’ve learned a lot and made many mistakes in the process that I can help you avoid without missing the lessons those mistakes delivered.

What area of your life would you like to change?

Now, imagine your future self in two ways. One, if you make that change. Two, if you don’t make that change.
